Gardening inspiration visiting the 2023 Melbourne Int. Flower & Garden Show

Gardening Inspiration at its best!

Last weekend Melbourne turned on her prettiest best with The International Melbourne Flower and Garden Show providing inspiration, knowledge building and gardening fun for the over 100,000 visitors it attracts each year. This annual event, rated as one of the top 5 garden shows in the world caters for professional landscapers and gardeners, landscape and garden design students, home gardening enthusiasts and those who enjoy a good family day out. This year was the 26th time this event has been held and and it did not disappoint. The four exhibits below were notable:
Avenue of Achievable Gardens
Showcased the design skills and horticultural knowledge of students from Swinburne, Melbourne Polytechnic, Holmesglen and Bendigo Kangan. Students not only presented amazing achievable gardens that any gardening enthusiasts could tackle but also planning, design, project management and construction knowledge; all a great basis for working in the horticultural industry.
Bug and Bloom
Aimed at school children and their families, the bug and bloom flower filled exhibit was beautiful, colourful and interactive. Children had the opportunity to explore mini beasts with Agriculture Victoria and also learn about pollination and how a beehive works with Wheen Bee Foundation.
The Home Grown Patch
Our favourite topic, this exhibit was all things edible gardens. A summer vegetable crop garden was displayed with companion plants. The journey of where our food comes from was a highlight and All Green Nursery were also on hand to provide gardening advice. We also enjoyed the entries for the Sustainable Scarecrow competition built by schools using recycled or repurposed materials!
Grow your Future
Promoting careers in horticulture this was a fascinating and eye opening look into the many and varied career options for anyone interested in the horticulture industry.
